London-based fintech Verto has partnered with UBA Bank to provide a platform for local startups, small businesses, and corporates to conduct international money transactions.
Kevin Nganga, Verto’s Country Director in Kenya, highlights the strategic positioning in East Africa to address the complexities of international trade, especially dealing with various currencies.
This collaboration aims to build on the $3 billion worth of transactions recorded by Verto in the previous year, tapping into the increasing demand for cashless transactions in the growing fintech sector.
Kenya, recognized globally for its mobile money revolution, continues to be a significant player in the digital payments ecosystem, offering promising opportunities for both domestic and foreign enterprises.
Verto joins the Kenyan market amid the rising trend of fintech services, following in the footsteps of other international firms like Unlimit.
The firm’s platform, utilized by notable customers such as MTN, Yoco, and Interswitch, supports transactions in 51 currencies, making it suitable for local companies aiming for global expansion.
Verto focuses on sectors like tourism, travel, education, telecommunications, as well as importers and exporters, aligning with the country’s digital payment infrastructure growth.
The surge in digital payment platforms over the past three years, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has contributed to the momentum of cashless payments in the region.
